"So you're like, a superhero!"

Whenever I tell someone I'm in Public Health, I get many responses.
This, by far, has been my favorite.
But really, I have no super powers. I just have an honest mission to help make the world a better, happier place. I also believe that poor health can be prevented when started early enough. You just have to start very early.
My name is Emily, and I'm your friendly, public health professional. I'm the youngest of 4 daughters with a middle-class working dad and mom, and was born and raised in a small city in NC. I received my Masters in Public Health at the Boston University School of Public Health in 2012.
For two years, I worked on research teams that improved homes, child care centers, and after school programs. While working on these projects, I saw first-hand how different the challenges to having a happy and healthy life can be for full-time working parents. I also saw that there are few helpful resources out there for those whose health is already a personal struggle.
Enter, HealthyPARENT! My knowledge from interviews with working moms and dads like you, research, and even personal experience are poured into this site to help with your common struggles.
Remember, your goal is not to be supermodel skinny, but to keep healthy habits in your daily life! This will improve your health slowly and overall, and most importantly, allow you to be healthy role models.
As healthy role models, your children will learn healthy habits for life at an important age. This will help prevent the onset of overweight / obesity and many other health problems in the future.
So, get started and Challenge Yourself!
